Using RFID technology in warehouse logistics - bitheeranidas00742 - 11-04-2024

In the modern world, logistics plays an important role in the work of various sectors of the economy. Effective management of warehouse stocks allows optimizing the processes of transportation, storage and distribution of goods, reducing costs and increasing the efficiency of the enterprise.

One of the modern solutions that can significantly improve and optimize warehouse operations is the use of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology.

The concept of RFID technology
RFID is an automatic object identification technology wordpress web design agency that allows you to quickly and accurately determine the location of goods in a warehouse, as well as track their movements. RFID is based on the use of a reader and a radio frequency tag (transponder), which contains a unique identifier and information about the product.

Most tag readers are not autonomous, so when a tag is read, the data is transferred to a computer where the information is processed.

RFID Classification
RFID systems can be classified by various parameters, such as the type of tags used, operating frequency, reading range, and others. Let's list some of the most common types of RFID systems.

Active RFID systems: use active RFID tags that have a built-in power source and can transmit a signal over long distances. They provide high accuracy and reliability of identification, but can be quite expensive.

Passive RFID systems: use passive RFID tags that do not have their own power source and receive energy to operate from the reader. These tags are usually cheaper than active tags, but have a shorter reading range.

High Frequency RFID (HF RFID) systems: operate at a frequency of 13.56 MHz and are used to identify tags over short distances, such as for access control or personal identification.
Ultra-high-frequency RFID systems (UHF RFID): operate at frequencies up to 950 MHz and provide a greater tag reading range than high-frequency systems. They are widely used in logistics and manufacturing.
Microwave RFID systems: operate at a frequency of about 24 GHz and are used to identify metal objects over long distances. They can be used for access control and inventory control in warehouses and logistics centers.
Application of RFID technology in warehouse logistics
The use of RFID technologies in warehouse logistics has great potential for improving work efficiency. Firstly, tags can be used to mark products that are in storage. This allows you to easily and quickly determine the location of each product in the warehouse and simplify the process of tracking it.

Secondly, such technologies can be used to mark returnable containers, pallet spaces and storage cells. This helps avoid errors when loading and unloading goods and makes the work process more organized and efficient.

Thirdly, the joint use of RFID technology with the Yard Management System (YMS), which is part of the 1C:WMS Logistics. Warehouse Management system (we talked about it earlier ), can be used to mark the transport operating in the warehouse. This will help control the movement of goods and prevent possible losses or damage to goods.

It is also worth noting that the use of inexpensive tags on expensive products is one of the main advantages of RFID technologies. This allows reading a large number of tags simultaneously and speeds up the execution of technical and logistical operations.
